Australian Lions Foundation Limited

From when Cyclone Tracey decimated Darwin in 1974, to the devastating bushfires that impacted areas of South Australia and Victoria in 2015, and Western Australian in 2016, the Australian Lions Foundation has been on the ground providing financial assistance and support to local communities in times of need.

We continue to fulfil this need not only in Australia and Papua New Guinea, but also internationally where our emergency relief and community welfare projects contribute to global understanding and cooperation. Formed with the sole purpose of assisting people in times of need, these are just a few of our current initiatives:

  • Funding support for Mobile Cancer Screening facility for South Australia and Northern Territory
  • Relief funding to assist people impacted by the 2016 Cyclone Debbie and following flooding
  • Bicycles for children at the Jacana School for Autism
  • A Cancer clinic in Colac, Victoria
  • The provision of Liberty swings for disabled children
  • Funding of Men’s Shedsthe

Lions Clubs Mobilise for Flooding in Townsville and Central West Queensland

As we have now seen, vast areas of Central West Queensland are being affected by flood waters moving inland. This includes Burdekin, Cloncurry, Douglas, Julia Creek, Hinchinbrook, McKinley, Richmond, Winton and Flinders areas.

The Australian Lions Foundation would like to extend the appeal launched for Townsville to include these inland parts of Queensland. This is an unprecedented natural disaster and is now being referred to as a “one in 500 years’ event”. Land inundation and stock losses are unprecedented.

“Because we work through our network of local clubs, we can be sure that the support will go to where it is most needed.

Because it’s Lions, every dollar donated to this appeal will be used to support those in need.
